As the first community in Colorado to offer this service, the Town of Avon is pleased to announce the start of its new styrofoam recycling program. This program, also referred to as Styrofoam recycling, is made feasible by a styrofoam densifier that was made possible by a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Colorado Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity award. It is anticipated that the creative scheme will drastically reduce the amount of difficult-to-recycle styrofoam garbage that ends up in the Eagle County Landfill. 

Tamra Nottingham Underwood, the mayor of Avon, stated, "Avon is proud to be leading the efforts towards styrofoam recycling in Colorado and continues to prioritize sustainability initiatives." 

Since recycled foam can be used to make picture frames and insulation for buildings, it's a great example of a circular economy. In addition to reaffirming our adherence to Avon's Recycling Ordinance, the Town of Avon is dedicated to making recycling comprehensive and available to all citizens. In order to ensure that appropriate recycling procedures are followed, the Town would like to urge users to check the notice that is in place. 

At present, this recycling model and business model have become very mature. The main process is: collect the styrofoam waste generated in residents' lives. We need to guide residents to do auxiliary work before recycling, such as removing the tape and labels attached to the styrofoam, and then throwing it to the designated location waiting for someone to collect it, and then it will be crushed, compressed, heated and melted through the styrofoam densifier.
