Brief Introduction of Metal Cans Recycling

Metal cans as popular packaging for beverages and food have a great consumption amount, which requires a continuous supply of metal resources. Application of Metal Cans

Metal cans were first applied in food preservation early in 1810. Cans with Tin plate are able to be sealed and keeping the food inside away from bacteria. Metal cans mainly include Tinplate cans, Aluminum cans. The canned food has a long list, while beverage, vegetable, fruit, meat are the major categories.


Since the canned food can keep the original good flavor and nutrition in quite a long period, they are popular among consumers in many countries. Take Aluminum canned beverage for example, they are widely accepted among the western countries, for the aluminum cans’ good properties of light weight and resistance to low temperature.


Reason for Metal Cans Recycling

Metal cans, especially Aluminum cans, are the most valuable materials in the recycling industry. The supply of aluminum mainly comes from primary aluminum and recycled aluminum. The primary aluminum is refined from the “Bauxite”, the process of which consumes a large amount of energy. While manufacturing aluminum products from the recycled aluminum materials can save nearly 90% of the energy consumption compared to the former method.


Rather than throwing the aluminum cans casually as waste, which would end their life in landfills, it’s much better to get them recycled and reused. Aluminum recycling is very easy and has the highest value. Aluminum cans only occupy 2% of the space among all the waste materials but share 40% of the total value. In order to increase the recycling rate of aluminum cans, many advanced western countries convert the vending machines into an aluminum can recycling machines, or place more aluminum can recycling bins at public sites like supermarkets.


How Poseidon Deal with Metal Cans

The aluminum can recycling bins or machines mentioned above are for the purpose of urging people to collect the aluminum cans, as for the professional process of dewatering and compacting, it needs mechanical support.

Poseidon with strong screws can give great pressure on the metal cans. The residue contents inside the cans would be extracted and the liquid would be dewatered. The tank equipped below the machine could collect the residue contents and liquid, which can be converted into new energy resources as well as avoid polluting the environment.


The compacted cans only account for 1/6 of the original cans’ volume, and it can save the storage and transport space significantly. The processed cans can be moved to the next procedure and reused to produce new metal products.
