Polystyrene densifier as primary equipment helps US achieve high-efficiency recycling
Styrofoam pollution has been bothering people since the very beginning, in 1987, a barge called Mobro 4000 departed Islip in New York’s Suffolk County loaded up with 3,100 tons of waste, most of which were polystyrene containers. Started thinking about offloading this waste polystyrene at a landfill in North Carolina, but no one wanted this tough trash. But today is different. In the 21st century, the methods of recycling polystyrene have become diversified, and the increasingly complete polystyrene recycling system has also realized the reuse of polystyrene.
Polystyrene recycling
Agilyx, a chemical recycling company based in Oregon, USA, proposed using chemical recycling to recycle polystyrene, Agilyx turned it into an oil and sold the crude they got to a refinery that turned it into jet fuel, It was then sold to the Ministry of Defense. Brian Moe, vice president of operations at Agilyx, admitted that this recycling method cannot be applied to polystyrene recycling on a large scale at present, because the recycling process needs to be very clear about the full composition of the recycled items, so the recycling speed is relatively slow.
At present, the simple and feasible method of polystyrene is mainly the mechanical recycling method, by using a polystyrene recycling machine to reduce the volume of the huge polystyrene, and then make plastic particles. GREENMAX polystyrene densifier has excellent performance in polystyrene volume reduction. This recycling machine uses hot-melt technology to maximize the compression of waste polystyrene. After crushing, heating and melting, extrusion and other steps, dense polystyrene ingots will be obtained. Because of the use of hot melt technology, the energy consumption of polystyrene densifier will be slightly higher than that of polystyrene compactor, but the compression ratio is also higher, which can reach 90:1.
Polystyrene recycling system & Reuse
Use polystyrene densifier to effectively remove the air in waste polystyrene, reduce its volume, and make adequate preparations for reuse. The substantial reduction in volume makes recycling polystyrene more economical and convenient, and at the same time more profitable.
In order to completely and effectively solve the white pollution, GREENMAX not only provides polystyrene densifier, but also has a complete polystyrene recycling system: using waste polystyrene for granulation. We purchase polystyrene from all over the world and use professional machines to make plastic pellets in the GREENMAX factory, and then make plastic frame strips. When these plastic frames are extruded with different patterns by various molds and affixed with beautiful stickers, can you imagine that this exquisite artwork is made of waste polystyrene? Thanks to the GREENMAX polystyrene recycling system, white pollution finds its value again.
